The Company Theatre Earns Major 2025 BroadwayWorld Nominations

Award nominations span performances, technical achievements, and Favorite Local Theatre.

The Company Theatre is celebrating a standout year after receiving an extensive slate of nominations in the 2025 BroadwayWorld Boston Awards, one of the region’s most prominent recognitions for theatrical excellence. With honors spanning performances, directing, design, ensemble work, and youth theatre, The Company Theatre is nominated across nearly every major category — including Favorite Local Theatre.

Productions honored this season include The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Rent, The Wedding Singer, Shrek the Musical, The Cottage, and Disney’s Descendants: The Musical.

The Hunchback of Notre Dame

One of The Company Theatre’s  most sweeping productions of the year earned nominations across nearly all creative and performance categories:

  • Best Choreography – Sally Ashton Forrest

  • Best Costume Design – Kiera O’Connor

  • Best Direction of a Musical – Zoe Bradford & Sally Ashton Forrest

  • Best Ensemble

  • Best Lighting Design – Dean Palmer, Jr.

  • Best Music Direction – Robert McDonough

  • Best Musical

  • Best Performer in a Musical – Salvatore Garcia, Peter Adams, Celena Lopes

  • Best Supporting Performer – Celena Lopes, Jack Roussell, Dru Daniels

  • Best Scenic Design – Ryan Barrow

  • Best Sound Design – Sally Ashton Forrest

  • Best Supporting Performer – The Gargoyles- Mel Carubia, Anne Martland, Gilbert Dabady

Rent

The Company Theatre’s electrifying production of Rent secured nominations across nearly every major category, including:

  • Best Costume Design – Joe Michienzie

  • Best Music Director – Robert McDonough

  • Best Musical

  • Best Performer in a Musical – Alex Norton, Jack Roussell, Hayley Miller

  • Best Scenic Design – Ryan Barrow

  • Best Sound Design – Sally Ashton Forrest

  • Best Supporting Performer – Hayley Miller

The Wedding Singer

The high-energy musical comedy also received significant recognition:

  • Best Direction of a Musical – Christie Reading

  • Best Musical

  • Best Performer in a Musical – Alex Norton

  • Best Supporting Performer – Sophie Ames

  • Best Supporting Performer – Natalia Spear

  • Best Theatre for Young Audiences

Shrek the Musical

The family favorite brought home nominations for standout youth and ensemble performances:

  • Best Performer in a Musical – Ben Cavallo Smith

  • Best Supporting Performer – Laird LaCoste

The Cottage

The cast and creative team of The Cottage were recognized for excellence in comedic theatre, earning:

  • Best Director of a Play – Michael Hammond

  • Best Performer in a Play – Emilee Dennis Leahy, Joe Rich

  • Best Supporting Performer – Tim Pick, Jacqueline Hausman, Rob Gullicksen, Elizabeth Nelson Childs

Disney’s Descendants: The Musical

The Company Theatre’s vibrant staging of the Disney hit also earned support roles recognition:

  • Best Supporting Performer – Jake Martins

  • Best Supporting Performer – Ailis McLoughlin
