The Norwell High School Drama Program is proud to present Antigone in Munich on Thursday, February 26 and Friday, February 27 at 7:00 p.m. in the Norwell High School Auditorium.
Antigone in Munich powerfully reframes the classic Greek story of Antigone through the real-life courage of Sophie Scholl in 1940s Germany. Sophie was a leader of a group of brave university students known as The White Rose Society, who risked their lives to publish and distribute pamphlets speaking out against Nazi rule.
The play follows Sophie and her friends as they confront fear, wrestle with conscience, and weigh the moral cost of silence. Their story becomes a modern echo of Antigone’s timeless struggle — standing up for what is right in the face of oppressive power.
On Saturday, February 28, Antigone in Munich will compete at the METG Festival. METG (Massachusetts Educational Theater Guild) is a statewide organization that supports and celebrates high school theater programs through performance festivals, educational workshops, and adjudicated competitions. Participation in the METG Festival offers student performers the opportunity to present their work before professional judges and peers from across Massachusetts.
The Norwell High School Drama Program invites the community to attend this moving and timely production and to support these talented student performers as they bring this powerful story to life.
