Mamma Mia’s Restaurants is bringing back its annual “Gobble, Gather, Give” initiative this November, with a goal of raising $15,000 to provide Thanksgiving meals to South Shore individuals and families in need.
The effort is led by Lauren Pyne, a 40-year veteran server at Mamma Mia’s Plymouth Waterfront location, and Kevin Hood, a local contractor and longtime customer. Last year, the initiative provided Thanksgiving meals to more than 400 individuals.
Funded through customer donations and fundraising efforts organized by Hood, the program brings together Mamma Mia’s employees, Hood Remodeling staff and community volunteers to assemble Thanksgiving meal kits. The meals are then distributed through local churches, senior centers and shelters.
“It’s rewarding to see local businesses, customers and volunteers come together to support neighbors who may need a little extra help during the holidays,” Hood said. “We hope this effort continues to grow each year and helps bring a little more comfort to families across the South Shore and beyond.”
Mamma Mia’s, which first opened in 1974, is part of the family-owned Viscariello Hospitality Group, which also operates Carmela’s, ThreeV and Mia’s Catering.
