Three South Shore organizations are joining forces to support a local family. 3R Plumbing and Mechanical of Norwell, Stellwagen Beer Co. of Marshfield, and the Learn, Live, Love Cancer Research Organization of Scituate will host Brews for Sonia's Battle Against Breast Cancer on Friday, October 2, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Stellwagen Beer Co., 100 Enterprise Drive, Marshfield.
The event benefits Sonia McIntyre-Bernard of Taunton, a local mother currently battling stage three breast cancer. Proceeds from much of the event will go directly to Sonia and $1 from each pint of Sonia’s namesake IPA “Sonia’s Nonsense” purchased that night, will be donated, through Learn, Live, Love, to other local women undergoing cancer treatment.
The night will feature live music, food trucks, craft beer, merchandise, raffles and more. No ticket is required. The event is open to the public, ages 21 and over.
“My cousin Sonia is truly one of the strongest, kindest, and best people I know. She is currently battling stage three breast cancer, and now it’s our turn to show up for someone who has always been there for everyone else,” shared Ross Hunt, Owner and CEO of 3R, who originally decided to host a fundraiser to benefit Sonia who is both a relative of his and the mother of a former 3R employee.
“Our philosophy has remained unchanged for 22 years,” says Pam Ahl, Director and Co-Founder of Learn, Live, Love. “ We believe if a woman’s heart and mind are at peace, then her body can truly rest, respond to treatment and heal more rapidly and effectively.” Learn, Live, Love provides critical financial assistance to female cancer patients like Sonia, and their families, throughout the state of Massachusetts.
