Plans for the Eastwick Inn, a boutique waterfront hotel at 82 Border Street, have been approved by the town’s Zoning Board. The project aims to transform the former site of the Mill River Marine Boat Yard and the Cohasset Lobster Pound into a modern destination.
The Eastwick Inn will include eight guest rooms, each designed to provide a unique and intimate lodging experience. The hotel will offer a complete independent stay, featuring autonomous parking, digital check-in, in-room kitchenettes, and a shared kitchen space where guests can enjoy continental breakfast. Parking accommodations feature nine spaces, including one designated for a site manager, with access maintained via the existing driveway on Border Street.
To address the coastal flood risks associated with the location, the development includes the construction of a retaining wall and the elevation of the hotel’s structures and parking area. These measures aim to ensure compliance with floodplain regulations while protecting the property from potential water damage.
A second peer review conducted in October 2024 evaluated the project’s adherence to state and local environmental standards. Key recommendations from earlier reviews have been addressed, including improvements to stormwater drainage and the overall site design.
The site holds a special place in Cohasset’s history, having served as a local landmark and a filming location for the 1987 movie The Witches of Eastwick. The new development will preserve this connection while offering modern amenities. A public access pathway along the waterfront is also planned, providing residents and visitors with an opportunity to enjoy the scenic harbor views.
